Common Sense

Part of this assignment was to write about the class discussion but i was not in class due to a journalism workshop.
Common Sense written by Thomas Paine and published on January 10, 1776 during the American Revolution. Common Sense was Thomas Paine's opinion about independence from the rule of the british. Paine used biblical references throughout his text. Paine writes about the difference between society and government, a society promotes happiness and a government restrains vices. Paine discusses monarchy through the biblical and historical view as well as the problems between england and the American colonies.
Paine was completely against British rule and he argued through Common Sense that America was not a british nation and being part of britain would force America to be apart of European wars, in addition to many other reasons.

  1. I understand that you did not experience the discussion in class because of your presence at the Journalism conference. You read Common Sense and noted some ideas about it. You need to be sure that edit what you write. You should approach a blog entry just like an assignment that you turn into a comp teacher. It actually has a wider audience so should demand more care in expression.

You discussed some ideas with some insight. You are to be commended for that. I think that you might have reflected a bit more on the ideas and written at greater length. You did an adequate job.
